Ewan the sheep (a.k.a) the dream sgeep is a cuddly to hang on your babies cot which plays real heartbeat / womb sound combinations that mimic the noises babies hear inside the womb. Such sounds have been scientificallyproven to hugely help settle and relax tiny babes as they make the difficult transition from womb to world. It is a creation of Easidream who also sell other sleep aid products
Huge thanks to Jules C, mum to Evie 6, Daisy 3 and little tiny baby Hugo who is only a few weeks old for her great review of Ewan the Dream Sheep.
Ewan the sheep
What’s good?
I have to admit to being a little dubious about the concept of this product so I thought I’d let my little boy (4 weeks) decide. I placed the product onto the womb sound and placed it next to him in his bouncy chair, he completely stopped in his tracks and was completely mesmerised by the sound. He most definately “recognised” the sound and it undoubtedly had a soothing effect on him. I also thought I would try and introduce the product again if Hugo cried to see if it was that miracle product every mummy desires- again it worked- Hugo doesn’t like his nappy being changed which seemed the perfect opportunity and again the sheep calmed him down.
The size of the product is perfect and the fact that it is a sheep seems to make sense for some reason! It is also nice and soft but not fluffy which feels safe around a precious newborn. I also like the fact you can attach to the cot for the stage when baby is in a cot and is put down awake to try and fall asleep themselves.
What could be better?
I don’t think the colour of the sheep and packaging match the USP of the product. When I think of the product the words that spring to mind are “pure”, “organic”, “calm”, “natural” and most probably aimed at a fairly affluent consumer not being an “essential baby purchase”. The amount of colours and busyness of the packaging did not fit with the concept very well and the sheep has a bright purple face and legs which isn’t very pure or calm etc. This colouring might also stimulate the baby not have a very sleep inducing/calming effect upon them! I would expect the sheep to be completely white in colour and also the packaging to be much cleaner in appearance- maybe white with green text.
When I attached the sheep to my cot I didn’t feel 100% sure the velcro would stay tight so I would improve the fastening mechanism if possible.
I’m not sure the name “Ewan” would help the product stand out on a store shelf- could the concept of the product be reflected a little more in the title- sleepy sheepy or sleep sheep!
Would I buy?
Yes definately.
Thanks Jules!
Now, would you like to win one?
Competition Time
Simply tell me the best thing about your bedtime ritual with your child. A winner will be picked at random next friday (June 16) at 8.30pm zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The best thing about bedtime in our house is as Daddy takes toddler up stairs to bed, he shouts ‘love you mummy’, I then settle and feed/have cuddle with baby girl. Such a peaceful time in the house, where all is forgiven, love is shared and the ‘adult’ time is started.
The best time about our current ritual for bedtime is that it makes me really feel I am a family. I massage my bump then pop into bed where my husband and I read it a fairy tale aloud. We take alternate pages and whenever it’s hubbie’s turn we get big kicks which always makes us smile and laugh. I can’t wait until a few months from now when we’re doing the same routine but with our little one gazing up at us! 🙂
Am I allowed to say the moment when it all goes quiet over the monitor and I can pour myself a nice baileys? no? oh well ok it’s the last feed of the night where she snuggles into me and plays with my hair all sleepily 🙂
When we put Tiana to bed we have to make sure that ALL of her teddies in her cot give her a goodnight kiss and then lastly is her small iggle piggle and we have to pretend that he is hiding and makes us jump, she loves it and giggles so much everynight 🙂
The best thing about putting my gorgeous girlie to bed is the big hug and sleepy kiss that I get!!!
Its reading the night time story with them, both of us enjoying it,and knowing they will be rested enough to enjoy another fun packed day, full of learning and laughter
The very best thing about bedtime routines at my house are bedtime stories – we spend at least an hour every night lost in the world of stories 🙂
The best thing is when I’m changing her into her pyjamas/ sleepsuit and she’s smiling and giggling when she’s getting tickled and kissed and peek-a-boo-ed at, and she’s really happy. After that I feed her for aaaages, so we get to have a lovely long cuddle – but when she’s finally gone and I can make dinner that’s pretty good too!
The best thing about putting my 9 month daughter evie to sleep, is singing nursery rhymes with her then cuddles, then lying her in her cot to watch her drift off… beautiful! And also a night of me time, lol!xx
when theyr snuggled on my lap listening to storys
have rt too @kikicomp xx
The best thing about our bedtime routine is watching them float off to sleep while your telling them a story..my voice gets quieter and quieter until they have finally dropped off..then me and hubby can relax and have some quality time!
cuddles!
I love bedtime!
It’s the time of day where I totally wind down and snuggle my mummy with my bottle of milk and a bedtime story.
We read winnie the pooh and mummy sings songs to me after.
Mummy has a baby in her tummy-due on my first birthday, and I think this prize would be great for him and help him love bedtime as much as me!
Love from betsy xx
It has to be the bedtime story. I just love doing silly voices and reading really funny silly stories while having a cuddle with my little man. What in the world could be better?
The best thing is reading a story to my kids. I love doing silly voices and actions and getting them to join in. They love it and I love it too. Nice quality time at the end of the day with no interruptions. :O)
My favourite bedtime ritual with my son is singing You are my sunshine to him in the rocking chair with him snuggled in a blanket whilst stroking his eyebrow.he fights his sleep but i have found this ritual is calming for both of us after a busy day x
Bedtime is my absolute favouite time of day.
It’s the time where baby girl and I umwind after a busy day of playing.
I bathe her , give her the last feed and then read a lovely story like : ‘The very hungry caterpillar’ or ‘The gruffalo’.
Every night , without fail and before I finish the last page – baby girl falls asleep in my arms! (Bad Mummy , I know!)
I don’t put her in her cot straight away but hug her for just a bit longer and I’m reminded of what a blessing she is!
One word: storytime!! Recently started “storytelling” with my 2yrs old! He loves it even adds “content”- yesterdays story was about a rainbow cow that made fruitcocktail Milland broke. All 2yrs olds story… 😉 but we adore books too! Great comp! Thank you

I’d like to say the best thing about our toddler’s bedtime ritual is story time with Daddy.
I’d like to say the best thing about our toddler’s bedtime ritual is all the kisses and cuddles before she goes up stairs.
I’d like to say the best thing about our toddler’s bedtime ritual is her telling her baby sister that she loves her.
But if I’m honest it’s the fact I get to have some me and baby time whilst also watching Deal or No Deal!!!
The best thing for me is the fact that daddy does it all, however I have to say that truely the best bit is when he puts them both to bed and I can hear him talking to them through the baby monitor – he always without fail says ‘night night, sleep tight, and remember mummy and daddy love you very very much’. Makes my heart melt every single time!
He is the best father and they (and I) are so lucky to have him.
Bath time just before bed is our favourite time. It does not matter how tired or grouchy my son is, once he is in the bath he splashs away, plays with his toys and gets rid of any excess energy so that when he comes out he is all sleepy and ready for his last feed of the day and cuddles.
my favourite thing about bedtime is sleepy cuddles with my little girl. At ten months old, she’s into everything so when she’s awake she wont stay still long enough for a cuddle, so when shes sleepy i love to smell her clean hair and enjoy a long snuggle as she has a feed. Bliss!
When my Dd was small we used to give her a bath, then read stories while she snuggled in a towel by the fire, then milk, biscuits, teeth clean and bed, with another story to help her doze, and of course her favourite teddy (often warmed, he has wheat in his tummy)
Now she’s 10 the routine is more of a ‘hurry up!’ ‘have you done your teeth?’ ‘why are you still in front of the TV?’ ‘did you say goodnight to daddy?’ ‘no you can’t have a glass of water you need to think of that before you get into bed!’ ‘turn that music down!’ ‘lights OUT!’
of course the favourite teddy is still there to help 🙂
The best thing? The cuddles. I’ve attachment parented J since he was born and by far the best bit of bedtime, more so now hes an active toddler, is the cuddles. Its a special time where we snuggle up together and both just relax. Sometimes we’ll tell each other stories and others we’ll just lie there but he always leans over and gives me a kiss before he falls asleep!
Bedtime is pretty stressful in our house at present. My DD (13 months) has decided that falling asleep is for dummies. So the best thing for me, is when she finally can scream no longer and when I have picked up all of the teddies that have been thrown out of the cot BACK INTO the cot and peace finally descends. That time is a nice time. Phew
I love storytime at bed time. To see her listening so intently and taking it all in is fantastic. After I’ve put her down, she always calls me back a few minutes later. When I ask what she wants she replies “I just want a big cuddle and a kiss and a big squeeze”!!
I’d love to win this for my brother who is having his first baby later this year. x
my favourite part of the bedtime rountine is when i take my youngest to bed we have a story, a cuddle and see him snuggle under his quilt then i go down for the eldest and we have a cuddle and a story b4 he goes to bed, and then i thank god i have a perfect family luv u all xxx
The best thing i like is to sing lullabys softly til my son falls to sleep
cuddles and books
I love to watch my darling daughter Orla fall asleep in her mummy’s arms. It melts my heart every time. Then she gets passed to me for a goodnight kiss before she gets put in her Moses basket. Once down she starts to snore which we fall asleep too!
The best thing about putting baby to sleep apart from the smell of clean baby and the peace and quiet is watching those eyelids become heavy over the big blue eyes. We smile at each other as he knows that I know that he can’t fight the sleep anymore… It’s just so darn cute!
Those last few moments of the day when you get to be with your child alone – having a read of a favourite book and lots of cuddles and kisses – heaven!
Reading books together, I’m not sure who enjoys it more me or my 2 boys. Its the only time they both sit quietly.
best thing is having mummy and Harri time. we play some nice soft songs and get ready for bed after a nice baby massage with his skin cream. i love seeing him so chilled out .
My favourite bit is when I am tucking my 2 year old daughter into her cot, she is snuggled up with her favourite books and teddies. I say good night to her and she always says “night night, sleep tight” (she sounds so adorable!) and then reads herself to sleep.
storytime is a great way for us to spend a bit of time together and its great to see him relax and close his eyes all happy and comfy love it
I think a good story in bed and cuddles always makes them a bit sleepy at bed time. A good routine beforehand always helps too, a warm bath, get dressed in snuggly pyjamas and teeth brushed.. then it’s time to snuggle in bed with their chosen story. Always works.. eventually! 🙂
I like to read a story or a poem or two. Listening to my toddler repeating my words and watching his actions :). As I lay there snuggled next to him, he puts his arm round me to cuddle me. After he falls asleep I give him a goodnight kiss and then its off to check on my daughter and a story or homework is begun! Later on I check on them again and another kiss is given.
The best bit of our bed time routine is watching my two girls sat on Daddies lap while he reads them their bed time story. I don’t know who likes it most!
That’s easy – breastfeeding our baby to sleep. Plus the smell of a freshly washed and lotioned baby is wonderful….
The best thing about our bedtime ritual is the sharing a bedtime story. Mummy & Daddy take Amelie up to bed, bathe her and clean her teeth etc. Then its time for a story. We all snuggle up on her bed (alongside about 20 toy puppies) and then read a story together. It is always exciting when we have been to the library and chosen new stories to read.
Then we have to kiss Amelie goodnight, and each of the 20 puppies!
The cutest thing is once we have gone downstairs we can hear the puppies all getting organised in bed, with mummy, daddy and grandma puppy all having different voices! If Amelie doesn’t settle, mummy and daddy have to go upstairs and tell the puppies off!
My favourite part of bed time is when I stop feeding my son and cuddle him. Before putting him in his cot he always gives me an amazing beaming smile and a gorgeous snuggle – truly heartwarming!
My favourite time of the nightime routine is bath time…all the bubbles cleaning away the dirt and fun from the day but also making my little ones smell all clean and soft and beautiful. It’s a time when they play so happily together, when calm resumes and it beckons in the end of the day…
The best thing about about bedtime is storytime, snuggling down to read a book and getting lots of hugs and kisses before sleep time
bath, bubbles and mummy’s glass of wine
As my beautiful baby grandson is at 30 weeks gestation I can only imaging as yet what my favorite bedtime routine will be ….
Looking at the little bundle that I never thought I would see, watching his little chest move up and down as he breathes, smelling all gorgeous from his evening bath. Watching my son look in amazement at his new little boy, holding his hand and gently stroking his cheek until he falls asleep all peaceful. And then, my son gazing at me as we look in amazement at our little miracle.
Fantastic, I can’t wait.
My favourite bit about bedtime is when my 23 month old stands on the stairs and makes u go to the other side so se can rub noses and kiss u though the bars before coming and taking her up the rest of the stairs.
If my DD wont settle i sit just ouside her room so she can see me, then i slowly move away from her door. DD always has her milk and lambchop (teddy) beofre she goes to sleep and we read to her everynight too.
The best part of bedtime is reading a story to my son and seeing his eyes light up at the pictures and then watching him drop off so peacefully.
Loving the way my little cherub waits for me to read her a story….. then always nods off within 3 minutes, heavenly!
My favorite moments when I put Vinnie to bed is the way he hugs me & snuggles into my neck,I love reading him a short bedtime story & he giggles at my funny voices as he drifts of to sleep.
The best bit about our routine is all 6 of us cuddling up with hot milk a story and a song 🙂
Sleepy cuddles with a baby thats so relaxed lying in your arms
I’ve always sung a night-time lullaby to sooth my baby – gently swaying whilst holding him in my arms. It’s our special little moment before he goes down for the night.
Ours is simple but very effective- good warm bath with lots of toys, then massage and a lovely book!
When my toddler daughter asks to go to her cot as she’s sleepy. So different from my teenagers who will do everything to avoid bed…
The best thing is cuddling my seven week old baby, all clean after his bath, and singing nursery rhymes and lullabies to him before he goes to bed. He has recently started smiling and chuckling which makes my heart melt but nothing sets off the chuckles as much as his mummy’s tuneless singing!
The best thing is the hugs, the kisses and then watching their angelic faces as they sleep….. oh and the peace and quiet is nice as well hehe
The best thing about bedtime is when I read a bedtime story to my son. We lay down together and he cuddles up to me and we read a story together. Then he makes me kiss all his cuddlies before I can go downstairs lol x
she goes and says i love you with a hug
