Festive Christmas Activities To Do With Your Kids

The most wonderful time of the year is almost here, and your children are giddy as can be. It’s important to make time for your kids around the holidays, regardless of how busy you are with work. Whether you’re coming home from the office of a marketing research company, such as Helixa, or just heading inside after a long day of working on the farm, your kids are going to want to spend time with you, no matter how tired you are. And who can blame them? It’s Christmas! But what kinds of things can you do with them during the holiday season that are sure to put a smile on their faces?

Go Sledding

Take the kids out to a good hill, grab the sleds, and hang on for dear life! Sledding is an insanely fun activity that only comes around during certain times of the year for a lot of people. Your kids will have a great time racing down steep hills, but they’ll also get a kick out of you joining in on the fun.

Build a Snowman

Do you want to build a snowman? Yes, yes we do. It’s a creative and simple activity that can be done with your kids no matter what age they are. All you need is some coal for eyes, a carrot for a nose, sticks for arms, and maybe a scarf with some mittens. You can obviously substitute these items for whatever you have handy, too.

Have a Family Snowball Fight

Ready for a little friendly competition? Have the entire family suit up for a friendly snowball fight! Your kids will love ganging up on you by trying to pelt you with snowballs, and you can get a few good throws in, too. Once you’re tired, collapse into the snow and make a snow angel to finish the fight off.

Put Up Decorations

If you’ve yet to put up your Christmas tree, the time has come. Time to drag the old thing out of the basement or attic and set it up. Put some Christmas music on and start hanging ornaments and wrapping lights with your child. Hold them up so they can put the star on top at the end! Don’t stop there, decorate the rest of the house while you’re at it!

Bake Some Holiday Treats

You’re going to bake Santa some cookies anyway, so you might as well make some for you and your kids, too! Bring them into the kitchen and let them help you mix the ingredients and use the cookie cutters to create festive shapes for your delicious homemade treats.

Build a Gingerbread House

You don’t have to be an architect to build a gingerbread house. It’s a good thing, too, because you’ll likely need to help your children in constructing it. Put up some gingerbread walls, hold it all together with frosting, and sprinkle it with crystallized sugar and gumdrops, and you’ll have yourself quite the little gingerbread property.

Go View Christmas Lights at Night

Taking your kids for a cruise around town to look at all the city’s holiday lights will give them a magical experience of a lifetime. There are lots of areas that go all out by setting up inflatables and decorating their homes and vehicles with an absurd amount of lights. And it’s gorgeous.

Watch a Christmas Movie

What better way to spend Christmas Eve than by snuggling up on the couch with some hot chocolate and a classic Christmas movie. Turn on The Grinch, Polar Express, A Christmas Story, or any other flick that is sure to put you in the Christmas spirit.

Tis the Season!

Snow, music, and decorations are going to be seen around every corner for the rest of the year, and your kids are going to want to spend time experiencing it all with you. Things can get stressful around this time of year, so remember to be grateful for all you have, and everything else will work out. Rest up and prepare for the festive holiday adventures that await you and your family!
