Check out how your town rates in terms of childcare affordability.

Family Nest have produced a childcare affordability report that is very interesting . They surveyed 124 local authorities and calculated official earnings data to determine a league table of affordability for every county and town.

The key outcomes of the report were that Stoke is the most affordable location in Great Britain for childcare. Childcare costs relative to earnings were found to be least affordable in Ebbw Vale, South Wales What about wherre you live. I think you’ll find the information below really enlightening.

In Great Britain today, a parent paying for 25 hours of childcare a week can expect to pay almost £5,000 over the course of year, a figure which is equivalent to 18.9% of average annual earnings You must check out this wonderful new tool that lets you see to see how far your income goes in terms of childcare and where the best place in the UK would be for you to raise a child based on this information

As suspected we are in one of the least affordable locations! It’s amazing how much it varies!

How I wish I only had to pay for 25 hours of childcare!

I’m right on the border between 2 counties, but pay for childcare 2 mins away in Warks. The nursery we use is loads more than the average but I get away with it due to convenience and the fact family have our son for 2 days a week. At around £9k a year for one child it’s not a cheap option but then cheaper childminders wouldn’t have worked for us and most of the nurseries by us don’t do the hours I need with my commute.
