The best things in life are free

The best things in life are free

Sometimes we have to stop and look at today and see all that is good in our lives. It is never ‘stuff’ that makes us most happy. It is most often experiences of life that move us.

This morning my lively son wrapped his skinny little 8 year old arms around me and cuddled me close. He told me I reminded him of cuddling Grandma because I was warm and comfy. He says this because he knows I miss my mum’s cuddles and it makes me happy to hear I am like her.

My 5 year old daughter told me yesterday when she is big and married she wants to live with me and let me take care of her kids because I’m so good at telling stories.

The sun shone a bit this morning and the grass was all sparkly with raindrops.

My house is still and quiet and calm today after a birthday party and kids everywehere all weekend. They made just so much noise as they ran about  laughing and playing. Both the silence today and the noise yesterday were wonderful

Today I spoke to my 3 best friends in the world, friends since childhood far apart but our lives still entwined. Last night I chatted on the phone for a long while with a new friend giggling like little kids.

Last week I saw my good friend who nce was very ill with her new baby. The look of love between them was so beautiful to see.

I have line dried washing and pink flowers spreading around the garden.

    Hi Becky,
    Lovely blog post.
For me today best things so far today are the sunshine today after so much rain & having lunch with all the team at work.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

What an utterly beautiful blog post! I too have been taking more time to appreciate the small things in life and have realised that the little things are in fact the best. My 2 & a half year old telling me he loves me (with no prompting) my 17 month daughter giving her big brother a cuddle and a kisss before bedtime. The beauty of nature. The things that melt your heart x
