Today – Being thankful can stop you shopping
A crucial part of being happy on a budget is to value what you have already rather than thinking you need more in order to feel happy. Being thankful and expressing your thanks is a really good way of appreciating what you have.
This is why I am delighted that Michelle has created #GiveThanksThursday a place to link up gratitude post and really share those thank you’s.
Such a positive thing to do…maybe you would like to join in too?
Being thankful can stop you shopping
I am grateful this week for …
My beautiful, smart, kind, caring children. I wrote about how they have been learning to give to other on my A Beautiful Space blog. I am proud of their loving hearts.
I am grateful too for …
My friends who are cheering me along, guiding me and supporting me as I try to gain better health and lose weight. They have been amazing and our collective weight loss by the end of week 2 is 15lbs. So encouraged by their encouragement and the huge bowl of fruit they bought me yesterday. Thank you Charlie and Giselle. You are fabulous x
I am thankful too for…
My in laws who help me out in a crisis and with lifts and childcare and are reliable and kind and love the kids so much. They are so valued.
I also give thanks for ….
This creative, flexible blogging job I have that allows me to make homemade bath soak and call it work and allows me space to read and write and to reflect on my life.
and …..
Last, but not least, I am thankful for my home; my messy, untidy, cluttered, mismatched home that is warm, colourful and full of the people I love.
We found a tiny butterfly out in the cold on our pathway last week. We watched him for ages but he just couldn’t fly it was too cold. We have popped him in our conservatory where he flew up straightaway up to the top shelf. We think Bertie butterfly has gone back to finish his winter sleep. How lucky we are to have our cosy home.
Just writing this list has made me feel happier, acknowledging that what we have is rather lovely and this it is plenty warms my heart. I don’t need much more than that, do I?
Being grateful does make you more content I am sure. Isn’t it funny how so few of the things I am grateful for are material things. We need to stop looking for happiness in possessions and shopping and enjoy what we have already.I’m learning that sometimes it just takes a little gratitude….I’m slowly finding out ….
I’m rather liking Give Thanks Thursday
