A parent’s dream advent calender – what would be inside?

A parents dream advent calender

My children are very lucky, they always have 3 advent calendars each on the go (I kid you not) They love them all and it really, REALLY helps them get up in the mornings.  I can see their excitement mounting with each passing day too and it is a fab way to mark the run up to Christmas.

One is a wooden tree created by their Granny Mary as one to last forever. The tree begins full of chocolate bells on its little hooks. Then each morning a little numbered bag is opened with a cross stitched ornament inside that tells a little of the Christmas story. It took many hours to make and it is very special. They love reading the backs of the ornaments and hanging them up and getting the chocolate in return.

Next they have a chocolate advent calender with a big picture of Santa on the front and each day they pop in the little doors o get their chocolate. It is very sweet because my daughter can’t quite do this so I find her each morning sat on her big brother’s bed getting him to do it for her. I have told them if they eat ones before they should the rule is mummy will get the rest.

Ha ha!

They also have talovely fabric Santa advent calender who has gold coins in his pockets just waiting to be snaffled.

How they enjoy advent!

My son has always wanted a Lego calendar particularly a Lego Star wars calendar  doesn’t that sound awesome and hurray there is no chocolate in sight. It does however have 24 gifts including iconic mini figures, vehicles and accessories from the Star Wars universe. Now that he would really dive out of bed for!

A parents dream advent calender would have Days Off vouchers inside . They would say:

Today no cooking for you,

Today no school run

Today no cleaning

Today no shopping

etc. etc. etc.

and by some magic the job would get done by someone else. Blissful!

I heard a lovely budget advent idea the other day. It involved putting slips of paper with experiences on into  each little pocket of an advent calender. In included experiences such as: light the advent candle, bake Christmas cookies and  set up the tree. I adore this idea. Not only is it cost free but it brings lots of together time too.

What would your dream avent calender be like?
