The Story of The Clock Cake

clock cake

My 6 year old’s homework this week was to do some telling the time questions. She is finding learning to tell the time pretty slow going. She gets frustrated  and despite trying to pretend I’m not I do get a little impatient.

So this weekend I passed the buck.

I begged my 9 year old son to help her with her homework.

‘No problem’ he said cheerfully. ‘Where are those muffins I made yesterday?’

Within  minutes he had made a clock cake out of muffins flapjacks and crayons and was merrily teaching his sister to tell the time. There were squeals of laughter and  the homework was happily completed with lots of clapping and cheering when she got the answer right.

Later they ate the clock cake and I gave my son a big hug.

What a kind, clever, creative, enthusiastic  and patient boy.

What a proud mama.

My word of the week is creative.

Being creative can make all the difference. The clock cake was certainly that!

What a gorgeous, kind boy! I need one of these clock cakes… my 3yo insists on wearing her watch to bed so she can wake up at the right time. It is never ever the right time though 😉
