Review: The Boathouse, Nottingham Castle Marina

We set off to review the Boathouse at Nottingham Castle Marina without huge hopes for our visit. We are a family of vegetarians and this is a beefeater restaurant. However it is in a lovely location not far from Nottingham castle and over looking the moored boats at the marina, we were all together and it was a lovely warm evening,

We were in for a pleasant surprise when we got there though. We had a real variety of vegetarian options to choose form as did our kids. Their meal deal at £5,35 had the usual veggie pasta and pizza dishes but also quorn sausages and quorn chilli. This is so unusual the kids are normally limited to just 2 main meal choices they were delighted. The kids meal deal is excellent value actually they get a main , a drink , and a desert  all in for this. They also got colouring and pen which kept them busy.

We had risotto and a salad which were good though their risotto portion could have done with being bigger. Theire are value menus available in the daytime before 6.30 and in the evening which meal a good value meal can be had. Ours in total came to about £48 which for a family of four plus drinks and deserts isn’t bad at all.

Three things I really liked

1. The staff were WONDERFUL, Well informed about the food, very kind to my children unobtrusive and attentive,

2. The menu was the most clearly labelled menu for vegetarians I have seen almost anywhere they even label the puddings which is really unusual but SO helpful. they do the same for gluten free and allergies too apparently. very impressive

3. It had a really nice calm atmosphere, you don’t have to sit too close to anyone else (I hate that) and it was relaxing. Good atmosphere to wind down in.

A  pleasant meal out.

P.S The puddings looked LUSH J had profiteroles and the kids had this fab thing called a mini chocalte challenge that they had to put together themselves. I am doing the Jenny Craig diet and had a black coffee (sigh)
