Recycling pants

At theGoodLifeBloggers us light-greenies have always recycled, from bottles, cans, card and paper. We have a paper-shredder so that we can feed our compost bin with a bit of dry stuff.

Recycling pants

When our kids grow out of their clothes, we recycle them down to their smaller cousins, and my mum used to cut up my dad’s big old Y-fronts to use as dusters. (I know, nice, polishing your school shoes with your dad’s pants . . . )
I was chatting to my friend Ellen about this last night, and she had this story for you:

I was helping my mum clear out her airing cupboard, we came across an amazing seventies pillow case, which was pink and flowery – which I couldn’t bring myself  to send to the charity shop – it held too many childhood memories for me.

Finding this ‘treasure’ led to a bit of an obsession, I found myself trawling charity shops, and the collection grew – so I started experimenting with the fabrics, and have quite a selection of plush toys which are stuffed with the filling from my mum’s old sofa!

So thanks to my mum, a bit of recycling has turned into an industrious hobby, which I am actually making a bit of money from now too!
