Galt has launched its very own ‘Mini Masterpiece’ series – 6 templates from famous works of art that children can print and decorate themselves, to create their very own mini masterpieces!
It is wonderful to inspire children to look at the diverse styles of great artists. So much of art in school seems to be about ‘accurate portyal’ rather than creativity. Very few wonderful artists just accurately copied!
Certainly not Van Gogh who put his faith, his passion and his adoration of nature into all of his art! I want my son to be inspired by Van Gogh .
We were delighted to download a template of The Starry Night and you can too over at Galt mini masterpieces as well as a step by step guide to making your own.
Here is how we did it:

Step one:
We printed off the template for the picture on to plain white card
Step two:
We opened up the fab Art Jar Galt sent and examined our art materials

Step 3:
The tree was bought to life by pipe cleaners and shredded paper

Step Four:
Frankie decides to create stars from googly eyes

Step Five:
More glue and pipe cleaners make the moon and the wind and some good old fashioned crayoning finishes it off
Step Six:
Last but not least art work is displayed where all great art should be displayed….

Forget Street Art …..Fridge Art is where it’s at.
Why don’t you inspire your child to make a mini masterpiece. We had a great time.

And what a fantastic masterpiece that is – great idea.
An art jar?!!! Oh my word that is just the most genius thing ever. What a fabulous idea. And for a present for a child that is just perfect.
And you are right, the fridge is where the cool kids hang out (did you see what I did there?)
I love letting mine loose and watching them get creative – proud parent moment!
LOVE that! What a fab idea! Always looking for new art inspiration – thanks! x
