My word for 2015 is Kindness

I got up really early this morning, January 1st 2015. My head buzzing with ideas. Sadly no one else is awake at 4am so I turn on my computer and head to Pinterest and search for like minded souls.

I love Pinterest you can find a whole lot of people who have the same interests and thoughts as you and you can find so much inspiration in areas in which you are interested from kilts to kittens to kites. So what am I searching for on this New Years day?

I am searching for kindness.

I want to be inspired by kindness that I see and read about, be inspired by words about kindness and deeds. I want to capture these inspirations and pin them down and share them. Inspire kindness in myself and others is what I want to do with this new year.

My intention is to build a new website or blog completely dedicated to inspiring kindness..a simple resource that gives huge importance to simple acts that can change everything. I have bought the domain name and after several wonderful inspiring hours on Pinterest I have created an Inspiring Kindness board filled with ideas to get me started.

Follow Becky Goddard-Hill’s board Inspiring Kindness on Pinterest.

My mum’s legacy was a knowledge that the only thing that really matters in life is to be kind. She lived this and my new project is inspired by her.  As Henry James said and as I tell me kids repeatedly….

“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”

—Henry James

I don’t find this so easy to live but I want to try to be kinder and I want to stay focussed on trying and to share what I learn along the way.

I do hope you will join me on my new journey and share with me your stories and inspirations. Happy New Year everyone. I hope 2015 is kind to you.

Lovely post Becky, and there isn’t a word in the world that fits you better. When I think of you, kindness is exactly what comes to mind. So excited to hear about your new blog, and I know you’ll do an amazing job of it xxx

What a lovely idea, I always go to Pinterest for inspiration but I have to be careful as sometimes I find too many things I want to make and end up not making anything. I am sure your new blog will be as fantastic as this one xx

I think kindness is hugely underrated, and it is a lovely word for the year. As Billy Bragg sings ‘I am the milkman of human kindness, I will leave an extra pint’ – one of my favourite songs and very apt for your word!

I don’t think that there is a better word you could have chosen, we could all do with a little extra kindness in our lives. I look forward to browsing your Pinterest board in search of inspiration.

The word that springs to mind when I think about you is first and foremost kindness, so I have to say you’ve already got that side of things down! I love the idea of a site to inspire kindness, the world – and especially the virtual world – can always use a little more. Well done and Happy New Year!

I’m a great believer that a little kindness goes a long way and am forever telling my children that it’s mostly better to be kind than to be right. Your mums sounds brilliant X

Lovely post, Becky, and very true. I try to teach my boys above all to be kind, as all other positive behaviours essentially follow on from that. Happy 2015!

Love, love, love this. Over the last year I’ve made small changes in my life and the way I treat people. From sending random gifts or food deliveries to online buddies who are having a hard time to making sure I pass things onto the food bank and help people when I can. The acts are so small and in reality cost me so little but some things I can see made a big difference to the person at the time. I will certainly be following your Pinterest board and blog and trying to do my bit this year too. Good on you.x
