My daughter and I loved this book so much. My daughter is 10 and it is so wonderful to her to read about a myriad of women who are just wonderfully rebellious. The women written bout in the book are all real, all fabulous and all feisty.

From the gorgeous,  wonderful Frida Kahlo who lived her life as an artist in a blaze of colour to the defiant, strong brave Rosa Parks who initiated a whole change of events that led to a huge civil rights movement for Black people in America.

Then we have the awesome astronomer Wang Zhenyi who figured out a lunar eclipse and brought science to the common people. Then to one of my absolute favourites, Maya Angelou, poet, activist and survivor.

 

 

This book is filled with stories and portraits of awesome women, pioneers from tattooists to computer scientists, models to explorers. Many of them had overcome huge issues to achieve their dreams. These stories make you cheer and we just loved them.

My son read them too and thought they were marvellous and I think it is wondeful for all children to see how strong and brave and pioneering women have and can be. Let’s smash those gender stereotypes.
