Dino Tales has been created by Kuato Studios and is a rather wonderful storytelling and natural history app for children. It is aimed at kids 4-10 years old. It works on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
It has been made in cooperation with teachers and educational experts, and includes scientifically proven information (on dinosaurs, fossils, etc.)
Dino Tales allows your child to have an adventure (as a dinosaur) travelling a virtual island world, playing mini games and having adventures round and then have the adventure turned into a little digital storybook. We played on this together which was fun and I always got emailed the completed stories.
We loved the interactive dino guide, Darwin) who we could ask questions to via a special Word Wheels but without Lise’s favourite bit was colour changing her dino with berry juice and mine was definitely making the dino do rolls!
This digital Storybook can be read, have keywords changed and then shared.
Dino Tales has some brilliant educational benefits for kids
- it improves their vocabulary,
- helps them with storytelling,
- informs them about dinosaurs,
- helps them understand how words can change a story.
Parents can set playing time limits and reading age which is really useful. I loved the alternative word choices anything that seeks to widen children’s vocabulary gets the big thumbs up from me. We spent about 1/2 hour creating two tales and I played with her for about half that time.
