5 adorable kids accessories you wish you could have

If you’re still a Disney fan and are first in the queue at the cinema when a new film comes out for kids, then you know the pain of seeing a child with an amazing accessory that you know will either not fit you or isn’t practical for adult life.

So, just to really make that pain even worse, here are five adorable kids accessories you wish you could have. But you can’t, sorry:

Anything Frozen related

Look, as much as you love singing ‘Do you wanna build a snowman?’, adults just can’t get away with wearing Frozen related clothing. So when you see adorable kids’ accessories like this great bag, you can’t help but cry a little inside. It’s okay, let it all out. Let it go.

Anything with ears

Do you want to know what’s cuter than a tiny hat with animal ears for kids? Nothing. And do you want to know something else? You can’t wear them, no matter how much you wish you could. No crochet beanie hats for you, with lopped bunny ears or little hats with eyes and noses and tiny adorable mouths. River Island once used to offer grown up bear hats with pom pom ears but this is as far as it goes.

Any sort of fancy dress accessory

Kids get away with wearing fairy wings to restaurants or a pirate eye patch while out on a walk with the dog but we’re afraid you don’t, even though you wish you could. While it might be nice to dress up every now and then when you leave the house as your favourite character, donning a tiara to pop to the supermarket is going to receive some side eye.

Instead, you could try closet cosplaying, where you use items you already have in your wardrobe to create character inspired outfits – if you really, really need to feel like Ariel when you go to the post office or Loki for that Friday meeting. Here are some great closet cosplay ideas.

Coloured hair extension clip-ins

While we can all colour our hair whatever rainbow shade we like, there are certain hair accessories that should be left to the kids, no matter how adorable they look. These really cute ombre ones, for example, should probably be avoided by adults.

The same rule applies to those braids you get on holiday when you visit the local market or beach (which you will probably have to cut out in the end) – only children should sit and pay €20 have that done. Stick to the hair chalk.

Glitter

In eyeshadow form, in lipstick and body lotion, you might wish you could roll in glitter and wear it as a cover up for under eye circles (this is actually acceptable for festivals) but really chunky glitter is best reserved for kids. Don’t hesitate to wear a shimmery eyeshadow instead but leave the giant stars in that craft pot and please put the PVA glue down – that’s definitely not safe.
