The true tale of a rebel allotment keeper – a poem
I had an allotment once
and I planned to grow my own
But I was besieged with advice by lots of old fellas
Before a seed had been sown
So I struck out alone, ignoring them all
I planted only flowers
The weeks passed, I didn’t go back
Until the sun shone bright for hours
And so one day I ventured back
and beheld the most beautiful sight
Full of gorgeous flowers
My allotment was dazzling and bright
I chopped them all down took them home
And had flowers everywhere
My allotment looked all lonely and sad
It was now completely bare
I gave up my plot, put away my spade
My gardening days were done
Or so I thought until the time
My little ones came along
Now we could do with lots of home grown
I like them to eat clean food
It’d save us a fortune, keep us all well
Put us all in a happy, green mood
I wish I had listened to the gardening advice
of the old chaps down by the sheds
I wouldn’t be encouraging some struggling corn
I’d have tons of great veggies instead
Ohhh such wise words lovely xx

Brilliant poem, made me smile. It is a bit intimidating and overwhelming to face all of that *advice* Hope you get another chance at an allotment one day x
