I was recently sent Snowflake a cd of Christmas songs for the family.
It sounded very promising…..
‘Snowflake brings to life traditional Christmas songs recreated by the voice of trip-hop band, Zero 7, lead singer Sophie Barker and producer KK who has worked with many famous artists including Bjork and Brian Eno.’
I have to say this was really good. A lovely cd, old fashioned songs sung in a lovely modern but gentle way. It got us all feeling so Chritmassy we made a few cards (and I never start Christmas crafting early!) I don’t like carolly carols. I like kids to hear the words and learn them themselves and for myself? Well, I like to sing a long. This ticked the boxes perfectly.
It has all the old faves ‘Jingle bells’, ‘Frosty the Snowman’, ‘Deck the halls’, ‘Little Donkey’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’, and best of all in our house it has good old Rudolph. 16 fab festive tracks overall. it’s going to be well used! The album also features a brand new Christmas song called ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ sung by Sophie and accompanied by the London children’s choir. It’s cool.
I think this is a great cd for all the family not jarring for kids but not cheesy either. (Currently £8.67 on Amaozn also avaiable at Play.com and HMV)
? Schools don’t teach them like they used too…maeks ure your child knows a few carols of fby heart ?
