Profile of a Budgeting Mum: Pret-A-Mummy

Profile of Pret-A-Mummy

Hi, what’s your name? I blog anonymously but you can call me P.A.M!

Any kids? Yes 2

Do you work? Yes PT

Why do you work? To keep my brain active and prevent myself from going mad. Oh and for money too so we can eat and stuff.

If you don’t work why don’t you?

What are your child care arrangements? We are very lucky to have some willing slaves called grandparents who look after my sons three days per week.

How do you manage for money? Although we have well paid jobs, we struggle. We have a large mortgage as we bought at the peak of the market. Bad choice.

Do  you worry about money? All the time. It is never off my mind.

What do you waste money on? Clothes, bobbing into the local town, wasting food, lunch out at the weekend. Internet shopping as well, often I order things to save time shopping then when they arrive they are unsuitable. Do I have time to send them back? The answer is no.

Have you made any big financial changes since having kids? Yes we no longer go out “on the town” so no longer spend money on that!

How do you make extra cash? I have a second job blogging for an education site which I do all evening every evening, I’m knackered.

Can you share 3 top budgeting tips for other parents?

1.Plan your meals before you go supermarket shopping. Try and go alone, you will spend more and buy stuff you don’t need if more than one person goes.

2. If you are organised about things like birthdays you can pick up bargains in advance. Sainsburys sell all their toys half price on the Thursday of October half term. Buy up!

3.Make use of whatever is in your local area. Forget expensive kids groups and activities, use the library, children’s centres and local playgroups.  They will be just as enjoyable and much cheaper.

About me- Pret-A-Mummy

Motherhood. Fashion. Food. Rants. In that order. I am a 33 year old mum to two small boys. I am a “pret” (ready) mummy; ready to be as chic and stylish as possible; ready to cook amazing food on a small budget; ready to fight for the rights of parents and their families. I now buy nearly everything on the internet and in the interest of money saving will NEVER pay full price for anything. I love sharing my finds with my readers and also other money saving ideas in my new linky THRIFTY THURSDAY. Please link up your own thrifty posts and share the joy!

Thank you P.A.M!
