Morrisons Fuel Saver

Morrisons Fuel Saver

Oh my budgeting friends I think you are going to just love this!

Morrisons has teamed up with 34 high street retailers to bring you a great petrol savings scheme. It’s actually the most, simple, brilliant scheme you could imagine.

Basically petrol costs a fortune and any ideas to reduce what you have to pay are really welcome aren’t they? Apparently the current cost is anaverage of £1.38-a-litre and £1.42 for diesel according to Experian Catalist * Yep, we could certainly do with some help with reducing that!

The scheme is called fuel saver and it is based on similar successful US schemes. Basically all you have to do is:

Step 1: Buy Gift cards at Morrisons

Step 2: : Receive a voucher which gives you money off fuel: 1p-a-litre for every £10 you spend when you next fill

Step 3: Use your gift cards like cash to pay for your shopping on the high street

Are you with me?

Here’s an example of the savings you could make:

  • Purchasing a meal form Pizza Express for £30 leads to 3p-a-litre off fuel. On a typical 60-litre fill-up that’s a saving of £1.80 off the purchase price.
  • The purchase of a £500 chair from Next  will lead to 50p-a-litre off fuel. On a typical 60-litre fill-up that’s a saving of £30 or 6% of the purchase price

That’s a good scheme!

Leading credit card companies  pay a maximum of 1.25% cashback on purchases and yet with Morrisons fuel saver customers can use their credit card to pay for their Fuel Saver gift cards and make an even bigger saving.! Savvy.

Are you wondering which retailers are taking part? Well I think you’ll be both surprised and pleased to know it is the big stores that you most probably shop with anyway, here’s the list..

Currys, PC World, Itunes, Homebase, Next, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, BHS, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Wallis, Outfit, Toys R Us, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Pizza Express, Halfords, Accessorise, Monsoon, Bella Italia, Café Rouge, Cineworld, Boots, New Look, JD Sports, H Samuel, Zizzi, Facebook, Spotify, Club Penguin, Spa Finder, Toni & Guy, Hotel Voucher Shop, National Book Tokens.  Fuel Saver is a permanent scheme and began on September 3rd. So you can go and check it out next time you shop.

I love it! I have a Morrisons very near me and I shop regularly at Boots and Cineworld and on Spotify and I often buy book tokens. This will be such a handy scheme at Christmas. I will buy gift tokens for others and save on my own petrol in the process.

Morrisons is a lovely supermarket, they have more have more people preparing more food in store than any other retailer including butchers, bakers and fishmongers. They are brilliant at fresh well prepared food and the staff are always super friendly.

We are buying a bike soon form Halfords and it makes complete sense to pick up a gift card form Morrisons first , It could make a lot of difference to our next petrol bill, at least £20 off.

How would you use it?

Hello Becky, I don’t drive but I’m with my sister 4-5 times a week helping out with her 2 children and she seems to top up her car every other day, I asked her why a few months back she said its something to do with the engine size lol, I will tell her about this, she will be shopping quite a lot in toys r us soon as its her oldest boys birthday in October and then Christmas in December. She generally does go to Morrisons or Asda for petrol as they are the cheaper 2 in our area x
