Would you like to win an iPad Air?
Lloyds Bank have a fabulous new facebook app called the “Year I Make it Happen” . The app is available for people to choose a goal for 2014 and announce their goal to all their Facebook friends. There are 3 sections to choose from: Home, Life and Money and they cover many goals such as “Do up the house”, “Buy a new car” or “Save for a rainy day”.
I am a big believer in announcing goals. I think if you put them ‘out there’ you feel more accountable and they are much more likely to happen. You will also recruit a number of cheerleaders this way. It is so useful when you are thing to achieve something to have a band of people to encourage you and help you stay up when the going gets tough. It’s also great to have people to celebrate each step of your success with. So I think this new app is an excellent idea.
2009 was the year I decided I was going to write a book.
I declared it loud and clear as one of my New Year resolutions. Some people thought I was completely over ambitious and that it was unlikely that I would ever get it written let alone find a publisher. Mostly though people I told really cheered me on and encouraged me. Some even helped me by proof reading what I wrote. Others just showed a keen interest. Someone bought me the Writers and Artists yearbook from the library so I could contact agents.
These people helped me keep momentum going. Having a clear dream and picturing myself book signing also helped!
With hard work, effort and determination (I sent my book to 40 agents before it got accepted) I did indeed get my book written and published by Random House.
A dream come true.
A dream most certainly helped because I declared my intention to do it I am sure. Thanks everyone!
I want you to reach your goals too.
How to reach your goals AND win an iPad Air

I have pledged to Plan Ahead in 2014 and have shared on Facebook.
My main goal for 2014 is to really start saving up for all the ‘things’ I want to do or achieve in life and things I want to buy. To do this I am setting up the bank account to pay an amount every month straight into a savings account. The plan is to not touch that money and keep saving till we actually really need to use it on the things we really want to spend it on … family holiday, house deposit.
To do a weekly meal plan and then write a shopping list and stick to it. I plan to save money by wasting less food and by making use of leftovers.

i plan to do better on my budgeting.
My husband and I have never had money that’s stretched any further than life’s essentials but this year things are starting to look up and I would like to put our extra money aside for two reasons: Firstly we would love to have an amount of money set aside for anything unforeseen. This would give us a tremendous amount of peace of mind knowing that this is there to fall back on. Secondly, I would love to be able to put some money aside for the future of our children; whether it’s for university or their first car, it doesn’t matter what but just knowing that I will be able to help them on their own journey warms my heart… So this is the year that I save for a rainy day!

i pledged to buy a car as i want to learn to drive before my 40th birthday this year
This is the year that we become self sufficient. We are currently trting to sell our house. Once that small detail is taken care of, we will hopefully be moving to a pile of rubble with 4 acres. You may think that this sounds crazy but its what we’ve planned to do for years. We’ve patiently sat out the recession waiting for our house to build up enough equity for us to be able to fulfil our dream.
The plan for 2014 and 2015, is for both of us to continue with our jobs while we put money aside to rebuild the property that we hope to buy. While doing this we also hope to get our fledgling business off the ground. We know its going to be hard and we know that we’re probably going to hit a few road blocks along the way but with some very careful financial planning and a strong work ethic we know its going to be a very successful year.
The ultimate goal is to have a small but perfectly formed home with enough land to live a sustainable life. We hope to have a business that fetches in a modest income and time to be able to give back to the local community, specifically teaching children about the importance of plant life in the eco system.
sort out my debts im up to my eyes in it

After having this time off work to be at home with the children, I’ve now got a job working 3 days a week, so all my wage will go towards paying some money off the mortgage. I want to see some a good reduction this year.
I pledged to fix up my kitchen – finally. After the year of the rats nibbling the boards, plumbing keep leaking and drains blocking, it is going to get done!
