The Snowman 30th anniversry edition.

How on earth can The Snowman be 30 years old? That dates me so much. But watching it again with the kids I felt all nostalgic for gentler times and realised I long for  our Christmas to be more about magic and wonder rather than frenzy and rushing.

The Snowman is available for the first time ever in high definition and it does look absolutely stunning. Over the past 30 years, The Snowman has become a national institution, (like The night before Christmas) It really is a heart-warming  tale of love and imagination. Raymond Briggs’ sketches are brought wonderfully to life through animation and they are breathtakingly simple and emotive. My children really connected with the film, they really cared. They were so quiet!

The snowman, snowman blu ray, The snowman 2012

The story follows a young boy’s magical adventure when he wakes in the night to discover his snowman has come to life. Of course  the  ‘Walking in the Air’ song which made a star of Aled Jones is the centrepiece of this film,  and the scenes are just as sweet and delightful to this generation of kids as they were to us. Gorgeous! Blankets and cuddle are a lovely accompaniment

The Snowman: 30th anniversary edition goes on sale on Blu-Ray and DVD from 5th November 2012.

Run Time: 26 minutes Genre: TV DVD  RRP: £6.99  BLU-RAY RRP: £9.99

You will watch this over and over I’m sure!
