Summer Dish Staples You Need at Every Summer Barbecue

Summer is a time for fireworks, swimming, camping, and, you guessed it, barbecues. Not only are they a great excuse for having some of the best food on the planet, but they allow families and friends to get together and reminisce or catch up on life.

If you plan on having a barbecue anytime soon, make sure you come equipped with these staple dishes.

Summer Barbecue

Hamburgers

When you’re hungry, nothing sounds quite as delicious as a juicy burger straight off the grill. What’s better is that you can customize your burger however you want by adding a range of condiments, such as lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles, sauce, and more!

Hotdogs

Not much of a burger fan? Not to worry, hotdogs are still on the menu. You can’t in good conscious have a summer barbecue without having brats or hotdogs, as they’re tradition. Have a dog or two, throw on some ketchup, mustard, or barbecue sauce, and chow down!

Sweet Tea and Lemonade

Getting thirsty? If you’re attending a summer barbecue in The States, there’s a pretty good chance that there will be a giant pitcher of lemonade and sweet tea close by. These make for some of the most refreshing summer drinks on a hot day that have us coming back for refills cup after cup.

Apple pie

Filling up on tasty food is one thing, but how are you supposed to crave your sweet tooth? Apple pie might just be your best bet at a summer barbecue, as it might just be the most iconic dessert on the American menu. It’s warm, sweet, and tastes like home each and every time we grab a slice.

Corn on the Cob

Fresh corn on the cob tastes great no matter how it’s prepared: boiled, grilled, fried, or any other way you can think to make it. Add a little butter, some salt and pepper, and maybe a bit of seasoning, and you’re left with one of the tastiest starchy vegetable options a barbecue can have.

Potato Salad

Potato salad might not be for everyone, but it’s definitely for us. The taste can vary considerably depending on the recipe and who’s making it, but it manages to make the cut every time. Take some potatoes, some eggs, a little dressing, and anything else you want to mix in and you’re met with a dish that keeps on giving—sort of like Christmas, but in July.

Fire Up the Grill

The next time you have a free weekend off work—whether that’s at a construction company or a medical clinic like ThriveMD—you might need to grab a fresh round of propane and some burgers because you only get to barbecue for part of the year, and it would be a real shame to waste it.
