An interview with Andrea Vasey
Hi, whats your name?
Andrea

Any Kids?
a 2 year old daughter called Sophie
Do you work FT/PT?
Part time, between 20 and 30 hours per week
Why do you work?
To pay for any luxuries, such as holidays, savings etc
What are your childcare arrangements?
I work evenings and weekends so either Michael or myself are home to look after Sophie
How do you manage for money?
Michaels wages cover the bills, and mine cover anything else
Do you worry about money?
We manage day to day, although I do worry about having enough spending money
What do you waste money on?
We are quite good at sticking to our budget, but we used to waste a lot of money on eating out and not using the food we had in our fridge
Have you made any big financial changes since having kids?
I have become much more aware of where we used to waste money and better at using up food leftovers
How do you make extra cash?
Selling unwanted items, on ebay, local FB selling sites or at car boot sales.
Can you share 3 top budgeting tips for other parents
1. Plan you weeks meals ahead, make a shopping list and stick to it
2. Batch cook meals, such as chilli or spag bol and freeze the leftovers for using on a day when you don’t have much time and might otherwise end up reaching for a takeaway menu
3. Don’t be afraid to try supermarket own brands or the cheaper supermarkets, such as Aldi – we shop here and most of their foods are just as good as the more expensive brands

I agree, Aldi and Lidl are great alternatives to the big supermarket chains and I’m not only saying that because I’m German 😉
