Mine for gems
Dr. Cool hands-on science kits each contain real gemstones or fossils and were developed by teachers. They have won more than 100 awards for the quality of their products and we were excited to be sent one to review.
We were sent The fabulous Mine for Gems (£24.95) and I sent my 10 year old adventure loving son to work.
This treasure-hunting excavation kit kept him quiet for a while!
The kit includes a digging tool, brush, and 10 genuine gems buried within a digging block, It took some work and there were cries of delight as he uncovered stone after stone. They really were treasures too and so much more precious because they were real.
The gemstones included pyrite, amethyst, quartz crystals, tigers eye and much more.
It was awarded Kids Product of the Year – Creative Child Magazine 2013 and well deserved. A lovely way to ignite an interest in something other than electronic games can only be a good thing in my opinion.
This is fun to do with friends too,
I would definitely get one of these for someone special as gift. A great activity and a lovely keepsake and possibly the start or spark of a long temr interest,
I haven’t seen anything like this before….It looks so cool x
