Going to posh events on a budget

I have had some lovely events to go to over the last few weeks. I celebrated being 40 !!! and my brother in law got married. I also have the MAD blog awards ceremony coming up. It’s tough when you are on a budget to find the clothes for events like these particularly when it’s a rare occurence to get out of your jeans or live in leggings (that’s me!)

I’ve put on loads of weight since having kids so anything fancy I once owned pre kids goes no where near me. What’s a girl to do? My mum would have said if you can’t wear something beautiful be sure to wear your best smile.

I did however see variety of plus size evening dresses at new website One Stop Plus that are diverse in range and price and just right if you are looking for something just that bit different to the high street but on a budget. Because I am heavier than I was I tend to favour black but I think this is a great dress. The sturdy shoulder straps mean you can wear a good bra too.

One Shop Plus have actually offered me a dress to wear for the MADs which I am very excited about. I shall show you what I chose after the ceremony . It’s funny trying on dresses it’s made me realise how it’s such a long time since I took care of myself. I think that children easily become the focus and you can lose taking care of yourself somewhere along the way. Particularly when money is tight.

Trying on pretty dresses has made me think money or not I need to tackle my :

  • mummy knees (brown patches at my knees and tops of feet from kneeling so much!)
  • my weight
  • and my fitness

I will be a forty something redcarpet goddesss!!!

Oh that’s a fab dress, really pretty colour! Like you, am now 40 and rarely venture out further than town in mummy clothes so when a chance to really dress up comes along I am a bit stumped.
In the next few months I have a charity Ball aaaaaand a film premiere to go to ‘gulp’ so will tackling said ‘mummy’ parts including elbows with vim and verve 🙂
Hope you have a super night at the MADS!
