Are you looking to work part time from home?
Many stay at home mums/dads struggle to make ends meet. Living off one income or benefits is really hard. Some mums like to work from home so they can be around their children all the while, some can’t afford childcare and have no option but to work form home, others like the flexibility home working brings.

There are these days lots of options for work based at home. Here are just a few examples….
- Selling on eBay
- Being a virtual assistant,
- Blogging for business,
- Setting up an online shop,
- Crafting
- Childminding
All these lend themselves to working from home. A really good resource for finding these part time jobs is to take a look at the website workingmums.co.uk. Another is word of mouth, just ask anyone you know if they have any ideas. Maybe you could be a brilliant local birthday cake baker? Or perhaps you could do ironing whilst your baby naps?
I know formal part time jobs bring in a much need security of pay and this is right for some. Other people like to have complete flexibility, I know I do as it means during the big school holidays I can really be with my kids and burn the midnight oil at other times.
I used to think it was really unfair that despite being a full on, full time stay at home mum we really needed me to bring in money to in order to be able to afford the bills. We weren’t exactly living luxuriously. However on talking with a few grandmas I know this has always been a necessity unless you are a very high earning families. They told me stales of mending and washing, minding kids and filling envelopes, taking in typing and allsorts. It turns out not be a new situation at all!
Life can feel very demanding when you have little ones the thought of taking a part time job may feel just too much but there are perks
- It’s a change for you and sometimes that a good thing, you may feel really energised and engaged by the change
- It’s good for your cv
- Extra money i s helpful and nice
- It may be good for your self esteem to feel you are contributing in this way to your home
- Your may appreciate your time with your children even more
Good luck finding a part time job that is right for you.

I would love to work part time from home and as I was recently made redundant I need to do something to bring in the pennies.
What I really really want to know is how I make money from my blog – I don’t mean the odd freebie (or blag – haha!) which are nice but I’m not really that bothered by but I would like to actually make some money but I have no clue how – can you help – please? Or do you mean blogging for someone else’s business – either way I’d still like to know. I was working as a marketing assistant in my last role so I was writing copy all the time for email shots, trade mags and the website but as I have no formal marketing qualifications I don’t know where to go from here…
Thanks! When you have a child you also want to work sometimes!
Hi thought I must reply to this article I have just found. I am a mum of 4 children. George 14, Sarah 12, Henry 9 and William 1. It was a shock to find out that I was pregnant with William as we were not planning a 4th. I had been working in direct selling prior to having william and what was great was that I was able to carry on working for myself right up until I had him and then a week off and then back to work. I am building a business with Avon which is fantastic. Today I am at home. Sarah has already broken up from school and henry is poorly and I am able to be at home with both of them today and William of course. I have altered my plans slightly and am having a day on the computer. I love earning an income which is flexible around my children but gives me an unlimited earning potential. I have no childcare costs but can also do everything I want to do with the children. I would recommend direct selling to everyone there are loads of business opportunities available with companies not just AVON I just want everyone to know that you can have the best of both worlds – earn an income and spend time with your children. I think I have the perfect life.
