I am a full time mother of two, my daughter is 7 going on 17 and my little boy is 5.  I work full time and my job is quite stressful so I look forward to me time at home.  Not long ago I realised that we needed to sort out our spending habits and that if both my husband and I were both going to work full time, we needed to make sure that the time we spend at home with the kids was quality time (a cliche, but true). Now we are learning to live a more frugal life and spending more time together as a family.  The Diary of a Frugal Family is my blog about our journey through life.  I love spending time with my family and the money we save is usually spent on having fun together as a family.

My top 3 tips would be:
1.  Meal Plan – plan all of your meals in advance and only buy what you need to for your meal plan.  This is much, much easier said than done – especially when shopping with young children so it might be worth trying to do your shopping on line where theres less stress and temptation.
2. Work out a monthly budget (and stick to it) – write down all of your incomings and disposable income.  The difference is your disposable income so as long as you don’t spend more than that you should be OK.
3.  Use a cashback website like Quidco or Kidstart to earn cash back on any online purchases.  It might not work out to much but over the course of a year it should add up to a bit extra for your Christmas shopping (I hope).

    I sometimes forget to meal plan end up with nothing then at local shop where I spend a bit more (sssh dont tell anyone am meant to be baby budgeting type person)
