SnoozeShade Review

When I was asked to do a SnoozeShade review I was intrigued. I have always hated heavy blankets draped over buggies and worriedhow hot babies might be beneath. This seemed such a simple solution!  Here’s what I discovered.

What is SnoozeShade?

SnoozeShade is the UK’s first universal blackout buggy blind for prams, carrycots, pushchairs and buggies (in flat-lying or upright modes). Its aim is to be a simpler, safer, lightweight and secure alternative to a draped coat or blankets. Here are its main features:

  • Elasticated top and sides with easy-to-attach Velcro straps ensure SnoozeShade fits easily to most popular prams and pushchairs
  • Check quietly and easily on baby with SnoozeShade’s ‘sneak-a-peek’ front access.
  • Compact enough to keep with you at all times; it folds into a small drawstring bag to pop in your change bag, handbag hang off buggy handles or store in your pushchair’s basket.
  • Fits easily under most standard rain covers.
  • Protects babies from the sun with the highest sun protection – UPF50+
  • Tested to all current British and European safety standards
  • High visibility seams and straps – useful if you’re out on darker days and at night

RRP: £19.99

My first tester was Helen with baby Cara aged 1. Here’s what she found:

‘It was much easier than I thought it would be to fit the shade and I was surprised as to how dark it made the pushchair for my daughter  – only slight problem was that my pushchair has a window at the back of the hood so some light got in through this but it was a good way to peep at my daughter. She slept well and got to sleep much quicker with the shade on  – no distractions to stop her sleeping. I liked the zip on the front so I could check she was ok and the shade made me feel more relaxed than the usual blanket over the pram that she can grab and throw off or throw over her face. All in all a good innovative product that I would definitely use in the summer as a UV shade and take with me in the bottom of the buggy where ever I go (as it is so compact) to help afternoon naps when you are away from your house.’

My second tester was Keeley with baby Ethan (6 weeks)

Here are her thoughts:

‘Handy little mesh pocket to keep it in. Will fit easily into any change bag to ensure you always have it with you.

The product was easy to install without looking at the instructions, even with my baby brain.

Appealing look, would like a choice of colours if that is possible.

Handy peek-a-boo zip to keep an eye on your little one.

Enabled my little boy to enjoy restful sleep whilst on the move. Fantastic also as a sunshade as protection against UV rays. I used an umbrella with my first child whilst out and spent the whole time adjusting the shade and then it would fall off – very annoying. This product provides easy hassle free protection.

Only down side as a sunshade is the child cannot see through the mesh, but obviously this is not a problem if you’re using just as a sleep shade. This is a product I would purchase.’

This product was very well liked and considered very useful

Good value? Can you put a price on a sleeping baby?? And it should last a good few years too, I would recommend you put it on your wish list when pregnant and if anyone asks point them towards SnoozeShade.

I’d have loved one of these. I spent many a day draping blankets over the buggy and adjusting a sun umbrella to keep my little ones in the shade. An excellent idea!
