January treasures and thrifty pleasures

So inspired by the lovely Sonia at This Mummy Loves  blog I thought today I would share my week on instagram with you too and show you what thriftiness has been going on chez moi.

Well we have been playing a fair few board games this winter ! I love board games they are such a great investment and you get hours and hours and even years of pleasure for your investment. Mastermind reminds me of my childhood sitting in my Grandads lounge on the floor and him beating me again and again.

I have been using up leftovers too and making a pastry-less quiche (recipe coming soon). I hate food waste and it always cheers my soul to use up all the little odds and ends of food we have in a great dish. Thrifty pleasures indeed

I have been also been doing a bit of crafting on a budget. This plate cost me just £2 and the sharpie was already mine so a very simple bespoke dish to make.

Walking and cycling with the children is one of our staple weekend activities, always fun and a good dose of fresh air always cheers things up even if it is chilly! We are lucky enough to live near a beautiful park.

and on a final note today I have been seeking treasure in the local  Oxfam charity shopand I found some wonderful books for my children. Grand total of £4 VERY well spent. Hours of fun here!

I’ve said it before and I will say it again…

Being thrifty can be a lot of fun.

I don’t remember ever playing Mastermind but I do love a good board game. We don’t play them enough but I may have to get them out this weekend and stop the girls using technology for a change!

Love that plate Becky – it really does make you feel so much better by helping out others doesn’t it, a wonderful anti depressant! I’ve never seen that game before – what is it?
