My best ever teddy bear was and is sweetie pie. He is a bear in dungarees and was the teddy I had when I stayed at my Nans when I was growing up. Me, my brother and cousins all had a bear that was just ours for nan’s house! When she sadly passed away I was given my sweetie pie and he still lives with us, although now he resides in my son’s bedroom and often keeps him company at night in bed!

I had this lovely, but very ugly little dog, called Snufty. He had a button in his ear (know I didn’t know about Steiff then!!) which when I was very scared I’d pick at. I can’t remember where I got him from but I’m sure it was a friend of my Nannas’
He had grey fur, which was very reallistic, very prickly like a short haired real dog, and I took him every where. He used to sit in Mothers bag when she came to collect me from school, she always hid him there and when I was getting my apple or banana which I always used to be met with I’d be comforted by just seeing him in the bag.
When I was a very grown up 16 – come on, we all know we know it all at that age!!! – I put him away with all my other toys, bits and pieces in the loft.
I went to get him a few years later only to discover he’d been stolen by some work men, I was gutted Snufty knew all my secrets and I knew his. The obviously did know a Steiff when they saw it, but to me he was my best pal when I was growing up & thats a thing you can’t put money on.

My favourite toy was a white polar bear that I got given for my first christmas! He came with a t-shirt that said “Baby’s First Christmas”… that got lost somewhere along the years. I loved him so much, his name was very original “Teddy” and I didn’t go anywhere without him. When I was scared, or worried I would pick a bit of his fluff out and roll it between my fingers πŸ™ he became so bare, but it was my comfort. My mum would always have to sew him a new mouth as his face would split.. he has a green smile once, then black, red and then black again. I still have him, and whenever I see him I just smile as I remember how happy he made me when I was a little girl ?

I had a Basil Brush teddy when I was a baby and he was loved and cherished by me. I used to carry him around the neck and one day his head fell off and he was kept in a plastic bag under the bed for a couple of years but we never got around to fixing him. I still miss him to this day.

I loved all the different textures of the patches – velvet and corduroy were such fun to explore and touch. He even had a tail made of fake fur (I hope it was fake!)
